More than 400 young musicians from the acclaimed band, choirs and Chinese and Western orchestras of the Music Office (MO) will showcase their talents, and demonstrate the multifaceted charisma of Hong Kong as the “East-meets-West Centre for International Cultural Exchange” with a repertoire the cultural diversity across time; the most outstanding MO trainees and music group members will also be awarded.
Programme highlights include invigorating choral works Enter with Song and We are the Voices; the enchanting “Adagietto” from Mahler’s Symphony No. 5; the vigoruous “The World Takes on a New Look for Spring” from Peking Opera Taking Tiger Mountain by Stratagem; “Adagio”, from the Russian maestro Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 in E minor; and Japanese symphonic band delights March on Eight Folk Tunes (It happened one day in May) and Crescent Moon Dance.
